Cape Epic Stage 3 Recap – A Brutal Test of Grit!

Extreme heat forced a shortened Stage 3, but that didn’t make it any easier! Riders tackled 78km with 2,450m of elevation, pushing through scorching conditions and relentless climbs.

Stage 3 of the ABSA @capeepic 2025 reminds us why it’s the toughest MTB race on earth! Stay tuned for more action with Stage 4 promising lots of action tomorrow!

In numbers, this is what happened with riders today:

UPDATE: Stage called off at 14:36. Before the announcement, the numbers looked like this:

Riders eligible to start: 1431
Riders that actually started: 1410
Riders that finished: 1015
Riders that did not finish: 185*

Wine Lands Trails is an initiative between Wine Lands Cycling Club, Paarl Trails, Banhoek Conservancy, Wellington (Wild Boar) Trails, Franschhoek Trails, Elgin Valley Trails, Bottelary Hills Conservancy, MTO and Stellenbosch Trail Fund to consolidate access to these trail networks under one regional permit.
