It’s a Wrap: Chenin Safari 2023

The morning was cold and wet on Saturday, 10 June. Mist hung low in the Franschhoek valley. It was not a great day for cycling.

Then they started arriving. Slowly at first. Momentum kept building as more and more riders appeared from the mist. Most dressed warmly with some even wearing gloves. Despite the conditions, there were smiles all around. Young and old. Those that race and those that ride.

The team from All Mountain Co was set up and the bantering was energizing. Wes would take the lead with Maans and Steven keeping the group together. Barry, still suffering from a nasty fall recently, would cart the photographer around and make sure routes are clear. Tim and the team from Haute Cabrière ensured permissions were in place and the necessary gates unlocked.

The stage was set. The two routes would head towards the Robertsvlei road along jeep track and climb to Matoppie returning via Glenwood. Amazing views were promised.

And delivered.
