GARDEN TOWN STELLENBOSCH RIDE
Join the Jordan Wrap-up Ride for Renosterveld mountain bike challenge in association with Garden Town, Stellenbosch. 12km or 25km Route.
The wrap-up ride will take place on Sunday the 5th of November, starting and ending at Jordan Wine Estate, and will offer a challenging 25km route starting at 07:30am, and an intermediate 12km route starting at 07:45am.
12km route / 370m climbing
Route overview:
This is a short route but don’t be deceived by the distance and think it is easy!
It is a 12km circular route of which at least 3km is around the bike park…
From the start riders immediately start the steep-in-places climb to the top of Jordan, taking in the Conrad Stoltz singletrack through the forest high above the Jordan, speeding down the flowing singletrack towards Karibib, this section is rough in places, do not go too fast!
A short piece of tar along the old Polkadraai Road brings you to the Polkadraai Bike Park where you can stay as long as you want, playing on the many features to be found there; the pump track, skills trail, flow trails, and technical skills trails are all fun and a great test of your abilities. The 4km ride back to Jordan is along easy-riding jeep track.
Note there is quite a lot of climbing for this distance -370m- in addition, the route from Jordan down to Karibib is mildly technical.
25km route / 687m climbing.
Route overview:
The moderate 25km route has a 687m ascent starting with a steep 2.5km climb before barrelling down Mongoose, one of the best bits of singletrack on the Bottelary Hills trails.
The route follows an easy cross-country route through Mooiplaas and Kaapzicht wine estates to the second climb on Fort Simon. After winding its way up through old vineyards and traversing an easy track, there is a short climb up to the top of the Geelslang singletrack with a not-too-technical ride down.
Another short climb back up to the top of Jordan will take you into the Conrad Stoltz signature track – a testing climb in the pine forest with an exciting descent to the final downhill to the finish.
Participants can look forward to a combination of testing elevations, flowy single tracks in natural terrain with unsurpassed views of the ocean, mountains, and vineyards that will take your breath away, (if the climb doesn’t).
Podium prizes on offer for male and female winners with fun lucky draw prizes during the course of the day. All entries include a bottle of Jordan wine.
A portion of funds raised from ride entries will go to the BHRC.
Both routes finish on the Protea lawn at Jordan Wine Estate where friends and family can be waiting to enjoy a morning with beautiful views of the Stellenbosch Valley and a selection of tasty eats, wines & music. The perfect family day out!
